A turning point final after a complicated first set
The CUPRA FIP Tour landed in Egypt from February 10 to 14, 2026, in Wadi El Natrun, for the FIP Silver Wadi Padel Tournament. On the outdoor courts of Beit El Wadi, Victor Mena and Marcos González achieved an important milestone: their first title together on the FIP Tour.
In the final, the Spaniards had to contend with a slow start against Dylan Demian Cuello and Martín Abud (2-6). Without panicking, they then got the match back on track with two tightly contested sets (6-4, 6-4), to win 2-6 6-4 6-4. A scenario that tells as much about the result as it does about the manner: staying clear-headed when the game gets out of hand, then turning points around.
From an accounting point of view, the stakes were high: FIP announced 80 ranking points for the winners, in a tournament worth €9,000 (FIP grid displayed as amount per player).
A strong point of reference for the Mena-González pair
The Egyptian title follows a busy start to the month, with Victor Mena already in the last four at the FIP Bronze Doha. For Marcos González, above all, it was confirmation that a team can quickly find its stride when it can cope, adapt and keep moving forward. In FIP Silver, where the rounds string together quickly and each pair plays for its points, winning counts… but winning after being behind often tells something more.
At the trophy ceremony, González emphasized the quality of the opposition and the dynamic created with his partner: “We won a tough final against Martín and Dylan, who put in an exceptional performance. I’m proud of this success; it’s been a very positive week with Victor”.
The rest of the calendar: string together the CUPRA FIP Tour.
The circuit leaves no time to savor. The schedule is already turning points, with a FIP Silver in Dubai (February 16-22) followed by a FIP Bronze in Agadir (February 18-22). This should be a very quick test of whether this first joint trophy can become a real launch rather than an isolated flash in the pan. The next question is very specific: will this victory be a mere peak… or the start of a series of tournaments starting the following week in Dubai and Morocco?
