## A tournament that has changed its status

Between March 25 and 29, 2026, the Kalat Country Club hosted the second edition of the FIP Silver de Caltanissetta, an 18,000 euro tournament with a 32-pair main draw. From this single identity sheet, the event goes beyond the framework of a simple regional fixture: it becomes part of the CUPRA FIP Tour with a solid format, a well-established organization and an environment that enables it to take on a more prominent role in the Italian padel landscape.

The level of the field confirmed this impression. Before kick-off, SuperTennis predicted the presence of 30 players in the FIP top 100, divided between 14 women and 16 men. On a Silver scale, the signal is strong. Caltanissetta is no longer just the setting for an international tournament: the Sicilian town is now home to a stage capable of attracting top-ranked profiles, offering big match-ups and attracting attention far beyond the local public.

## Finals add weight to the event

As for the court, it followed perfectly. In the women’s draw, Carolina Orsi and Letizia Manquillo went all the way to beat Giulia Sussarello and Emily Stellato in the final, 7-5 6-2. The title gives the tournament a special significance, as it gives Italy its first FIP women’s trophy of the 2026 season. For Orsi, Italy’s number one player, the victory further consolidates an already central position in the Italian padel scene.

On the men’s side, the 100% Spanish final gave the weekend the sporting tension expected of an event that wants to count. Víctor Mena and Marcos González dominated Gonzalo Rubio and Javi Ruiz in three sets, 6-2 5-7 7-6, at the end of a match dense enough to validate the promise of the draw. The International Federation points out that this is already their second CUPRA FIP Tour title of the season, proof that Caltanissetta has crowned a pair with real momentum.

## Sicily settles into the Italian landscape

The most interesting point, however, goes beyond the results alone. FITP Sicilia presents 2026 as a historic year for the island, with nine international events scheduled between February and October, including Promises. In this context, Caltanissetta’s Silver acted as a breakthrough. With large crowds in the stands, broadcasts of the final stages on the FIP YouTube channel, exposure for young Sicilian players and the continuity of a project launched in 2025, all the hallmarks of a tournament that is taking root are in place.

That’s what gives this edition its real door. Sicily is no longer on the periphery of the calendar, happy to host a beautiful week of padel. It has become a territory that structures, attracts and builds loyalty. In Caltanissetta, Italian international padel has found more than just a stopover: a credible, visible and already recognized point of reference.
