The FITP padel ranking 2026 will take effect with the September 2026 update. The Federazione Italiana Tennis e Padel sets the starting point at tournaments completed from 31 August. The reform changes who is included, how points are awarded and how the old and new calculations will overlap.

## When does the new FITP padel ranking start?

The 2026 method will apply to tournaments completed from 31 August 2026 and will then appear in the ranking published in September. The band change scheduled for the end of August will still be calculated under the 2025 method.

This is Italy’s national ranking. It is separate from the world ranking run by the International Padel Federation (FIP), although the FIP ranking remains part of some equivalence mechanisms used in the Italian system.

## Four bands for competitive players

The most visible change concerns non-competitive members. Under the new system, they will no longer appear in the national FITP ranking and will instead be assessed through Power TPRA, which is designed to reflect their non-competitive activity.

Competitive players will be distributed across the first four ranking bands. Players with an equivalent ranking may also be placed in these bands regardless of their licence type. Competitive players in the fourth band may take part in TPRA tournaments and team championships as well as competitive events, depending on their licence and the competitions they enter.

## Points for every draw win

The FITP will award points for every win recorded in a draw. It is also removing the bonus linked to players at the top of the hierarchy when calculating a tournament’s value.

The wider framework still uses a rolling 52-week period. The federation’s method counts the best 14 results for men and the best 12 for women. The calculation also includes possible deductions for matches not played and bonuses from team championships.

The national ranking carries real sporting value for players. When Joshua Pirraglia reached No. 1 in the FITP ranking in 2023, he told the federation that the achievement increased his motivation to improve. He was not commenting on the 2026 reform, but his reaction shows what a place in the Italian hierarchy can mean.

> *“It gives me the motivation to return to Italy with a strong desire to play and keep improving.”*

## A gradual transition until 31 August 2027

The switch will not happen all at once. Activity from the 52 weeks before 31 August 2026 will still be evaluated under the 2025 method.

For the September update, the ranking will therefore combine one month calculated under the new rules with the previous eleven months under the old system. The share of the old calculation will then shrink with each update. From 31 August 2027, only the 2026 method will be used.
