The **Málaga P1 results** confirmed the men’s hierarchy, with the top four seeds all reaching the round of 16 in straight sets. The women’s draw produced more movement as Alejandra Salazar and Aranza Osoro lost their first match together to Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga.

## The top four men’s pairs move through comfortably

Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia opened their tournament with a 6-3, 6-2 win over David Gala and Enzo Jensen. After a more competitive start, the number ones took control and completed the match in 63 minutes.

Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto were even quicker. The second seeds dropped only three games against Denis Perino and Facundo Domínguez, winning 6-0, 6-3 in 57 minutes after a ruthless opening set.

Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger also avoided trouble against Daniel Santigosa and Marc Sintes. The Spanish pair kept the pressure on, but the third seeds closed out a 6-3, 6-4 victory. Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas completed a perfect day for the top four by defeating qualifiers José Solano and Ramiro Pereyra 6-2, 6-4.

Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno also made a convincing Málaga debut, beating wild cards Coquito Zamora and Pablo Sánchez 6-2, 6-2. Edu Alonso and Aimar Goñi, along with Toliuto Aguirre and Álex Arroyo, also advanced.

## Caldera and Goenaga spoil the Salazar-Osoro debut

The day’s main surprise came in the women’s draw. Playing their first tournament together, eighth seeds Alejandra Salazar and Aranza Osoro lost 6-4, 6-3 to Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga in one hour and 38 minutes.

Caldera and Goenaga were the only unseeded women’s pair to eliminate a seeded team on Wednesday. Their win leaves Salazar and Osoro waiting for their first competitive victory as a new partnership.

Elsewhere, Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen carried on from their Bordeaux title by beating Lucía Sainz and Sofía Saiz 6-2, 6-3. Marta Ortega and Martina Calvo recorded the same score against Jana Montes and Marta Barrera.

## A demanding round of 16 at the Martín Carpena

The round-of-16 schedule includes Coello-Tapia against Aguirre-Arroyo, Galán-Chingotto versus Tello-Arce and Stupaczuk-Yanguas against Garrido-Bergamini. In the women’s draw, Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea begin their campaign against Lorena Rufo and Victoria Iglesias.

The leading men delivered as expected. The first real shock in Málaga came from a partnership still under construction: Salazar and Osoro are already out, while Caldera and Goenaga have earned another match.
