The **new women’s padel pairs** are taking shape before Pretoria P1: Claudia Fernández is expected to team up with Martina Calvo, while Marta Ortega will reunite with Sofía Araújo. Their launch is expected after the Málaga P1, in a stretch where several top-table partnerships are changing shape.

This double move does not come out of nowhere. It follows several weeks of inconsistent results for the previous projects and fits into a wider domino effect before the second half of the season.

## Two projects shifting after Málaga

According to information published by [Padel Magazine](https://padel-magazine.co.uk/Ortega-Araujo-returns--Fernandez-Calvo-launches-a-new-project/), the new Fernández-Calvo and Ortega-Araújo partnerships are due to start in Pretoria, after the Málaga P1. That means Claudia Fernández should still play with Sofía Araújo in Málaga, while Martina Calvo remains alongside Marta Ortega for that event.

The calendar makes the timing even more interesting: the [FIP website](https://www.padelfip.com/) lists Pretoria from July 27 to August 2, just after Málaga and before London. The switch would therefore happen in a short but clear window, opening a new chapter before the end of the summer.

## Fernández-Calvo, youth and ambition

The Fernández-Calvo pairing naturally attracts attention because of its generational profile. Claudia Fernández has already shown she can sustain a very high level, including a final in Valencia alongside Sofía Araújo. Martina Calvo is progressing quickly on the Premier Padel stage and still has significant room to grow.

On paper, the logic is clear: two young, aggressive players able to bring intensity and build a playing identity over time. The risk is just as obvious: in a ranking zone where every quarter-final or round of 16 matters, they will need to find chemistry quickly.

## Ortega-Araújo, a more experienced reset

The Ortega-Araújo duo tells a different story. Marta Ortega and Sofía Araújo already know each other and had produced solid results together in 2025. Their reunion could offer more immediate reference points: reading of the game, defensive volume, power on the left side and the ability to apply constant pressure at the net.

Around them, the women’s draw is also moving. Alejandra Salazar and Aranza Osoro are expected to begin their partnership in Málaga, Alejandra Alonso and Marina Guinart have been announced together, while other combinations such as Virseda-Velasco, Iglesias-Rufo and Castelló-Talaván are part of the same reshuffle. Pretoria could therefore be the first real test of which projects are already solid.
