Gonzalo Rubio and Andrés Fernández Lancha have confirmed their split. The Spanish pair, formed in July at the Premier Padel Málaga P1, ends after only a handful of events, with a semifinal at the FIP Silver on Jersey Island as their best result. No new partner has been announced for either player at this stage.

## A partnership that started in Málaga

Rubio and Fernández Lancha made their debut together in Málaga before moving on to the Pretoria P1, the FIP Silver Rathbones Island Padel and the London P1. Their run in South Africa ended in the opening round against Marc Quílez and Federico Mouriño.

Their strongest result came in Jersey. Seeded No. 1, the two Spaniards reached the semifinals before losing in three sets to Marco Cassetta and Fabián Oviedo Berazategui, who went on to win the tournament. Only a few days earlier, the [FIP was still presenting their shared target](https://www.padelfip.com/2026/07/rubio-and-fernandez-lancha-ready-to-light-up-jersey-island-the-target-is-to-win-first-title-as-pair/): winning a first title together.

The [London P1](https://actu-padel.com/en/london-p1-2026-world-capital-padel/) ultimately became their final tournament as a pair. In the FIP ranking published on August 10, 2026, Rubio sits at world No. 43 and Fernández Lancha at No. 65.

## Rubio thanks Fernández Lancha

Gonzalo Rubio announced the split on his Instagram account. The player from Seville focused his message on thanking his partner and the team around them for the work done during their short spell together.

> *“I discovered a true professional and, above all, a great person.”*

This is a translation of Rubio’s original Spanish message. He did not give a specific reason for the split in that post. Rubio also thanked Martín, a member of Fernández Lancha’s staff, before referring to his own path and his intention to keep working toward his best level.

## Two new projects to build

The split comes during the tour’s summer break. At the time of writing, neither Rubio nor Fernández Lancha has announced a new partner through a verifiable source.

The difference in experience was one of the defining features of the partnership. Rubio, 35, has spent several seasons competing at the highest level. Fernández Lancha, 21, reached a career-best world ranking of No. 57 in 2026. Their Jersey semifinal will therefore remain the main sporting marker of a project that lasted only a few weeks.

The next step for both players is to settle on a new partnership before competition resumes. The pair market remains active during the break, but no possible combination should be treated as confirmed until it comes from the players or another official source.
