Arturo Coello has reached 300 victories on the Premier Padel circuit. The world No. 1 hit the milestone at the Milano P1 on Saturday 17 October, when he and Agustín Tapia beat Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz 6-4, 6-3. Ahead of Sunday’s final, the Spaniard also compared his partner’s talent to Lionel Messi’s.
Coello becomes the first player to reach 300 Premier Padel wins
At the Allianz Cloud, Coello and Tapia defeated Stupaczuk and Sanz for the third tournament in succession, after beating them in the Rotterdam and Düsseldorf finals. The straight-sets victory sends the world’s leading pair into a fourth consecutive final, following titles in Paris, Rotterdam and Düsseldorf.
The milestone is a first: according to the tournament organisers, Coello is the first player to win 300 matches on the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour. The pair already have 11 titles in 2026 and are chasing a 12th in Milan. They won here in 2024 but lost the 2025 final to Galán and Chingotto.
How many titles have Coello and Tapia won in 2026? Before Milan, the world number ones had claimed 11 titles, including the Rome and Paris Majors. They are bidding for a twelfth.
“Messi, without a doubt”: Coello praises Tapia
Asked after the semi-final which footballer most closely resembles his partner’s playing style, Coello replied:
“Messi, without a doubt. Among those I have met here in Milan, I would say Paulo Dybala.”
Tapia continued the football theme. Winners in Milan will receive a championship ring, and the Argentine hopes for a photograph similar to one of Lionel Messi with his World Cup winners’ ring.
“I would love to take a photo with the ring like Leo did, but I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself.”
Tapia also stressed his ability to adjust to different playing conditions. In his view, the speed of the centre court changes with the temperature and the number of spectators. He also praised his team’s work after three weeks on the European tour.
