A 160-page guide to help players improve their padel
Marabout published Le Guide du Padel on 2 September 2026. Written by Johan Bergeron and Cyril Collot, the book brings together 50 tips to help players improve across 160 pages.
The aim is simple: to support players in their progression, whether they are just discovering padel or have already been playing for several years. The guide covers the basics of the game, the main shots, positioning, tactics and physical preparation, with advice that can be applied directly on court.
The sections dedicated to technique rely in particular on illustrations and step-by-step sequences to make grips, movements and different game situations easier to understand. The book also looks at the history of padel, equipment and the key differences between padel and tennis.
The approach is deliberately accessible, allowing readers either to work through the book from start to finish or simply look up a specific tip depending on what they want to improve.
Johan Bergeron brings experience from the tour and coaching
For the on-court side of the book, the guide draws on the experience of Johan Bergeron. The French player boasts one of the strongest records in French padel, with four national titles: three alongside Bastien Blanqué in 2017, 2018 and 2019, followed by a fourth in 2021 with Benjamin Tison.
He also continues to compete on the international circuit. The FIP profile of Johan Bergeron listed him as world No. 181 on 7 September 2026 with 310 points, just a few days after reaching the semi-finals of the FIP Bronze Marnes II.
His experience goes beyond competition. Bergeron is also involved in player development on a daily basis and works with Jessica Ginier at the padel section of the All In Academy in Lyon.
This dual experience as both a player and coach naturally comes through in the book, particularly when explaining the differences between tennis and padel. Bergeron had already summed up that transition in a 2021 interview with Sport Buzz Business:
There are specific features to padel, but coming from tennis gives you a strong base and definitely helps.
The guide explores these habits in detail: the ones tennis players can keep, but also those they need to adapt in order to better understand the game of padel.
Cyril Collot brings his experience as a sports author
Alongside him, Cyril Collot contributes his experience as a journalist and sports author. He has written several biographies published by Marabout on players such as Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland and Karim Benzema, and is also a padel player himself.
Their collaboration allows the book to combine high-level playing experience with clear and accessible writing. Technique, tactics, rules, equipment and physical preparation: Le Guide du Padel is above all designed to give players simple reference points to better understand the game and improve on court.
The book has been available from Marabout since 2 September 2026 at a recommended retail price of €17.90. More information is available on the Hachette page for Le Guide du Padel.
