Bernard and Vierendeels beat Lacroix/Poels 6/4 7/5
The women’s final had a recent reference point. At the Parc 1348 stage, Roxane Lacroix and Linn Poels had beaten Laura Bernard, who was then partnered with Axelle Moens, 6/3 6/3. In Verviers, Bernard faced Lacroix and Poels again, this time alongside Rune Vierendeels. The outcome changed.
The opening set remained close before Bernard/Vierendeels edged it 6/4. The second set again featured several pressure games. At 6/5, Bernard and Vierendeels earned the match point that closed the contest, 7/5. The pair leave Verviers with the WD500 title.
The win also answers Bernard’s defeat to Lacroix/Poels at the previous stage. For more context on that meeting, Actu Padel covered the Major Tour finals at Parc 1348 earlier in August.
Stas and De Roose finish the job after two tie-breaks
The men’s final required more patience. Gilles Stas and Maxime De Roose took the first set in a tie-break, then faced the same scenario in the second set against Xander Veys and Maxim De Peuter.
The live broadcast showed how difficult it was to close the match. Stas and De Roose had title chances before the tie-break, and the commentary counted up to a fifth match point before the finish. The final score, 7/6 7/6, reflects a contest in which neither pair managed to create a lasting gap.
Before the final, Maxime De Roose summed up the objective in an interview with Vedia.
We have already reached three finals, but now we want to win.
This time, Stas and De Roose turned that next opportunity into a title. They claim the MD1000 after two sets decided by tie-breaks.
The Major Tour returns at Bertransart in October
The Le Midi stage closes the circuit’s August stop. The official AFPadel calendar lists the next Major Tour stage at the Centre Sportif de Bertransart in Gerpinnes from 8 to 11 October 2026, followed by Padel Dour from 26 to 29 November.
In Verviers, both titles were decided late: Bernard/Vierendeels at 6/5 in the second set, Stas/De Roose at the end of a second tie-break. The circuit meets again at Bertransart in October.
