Tolito Aguirre and Pablo Lijó will team up from the 2026 Kuwait Major, according to information published on 3 October by Padel Magazine. Official FIP data confirm their rankings and playing sides, although the tournament’s public list does not yet show the pair.
Aguirre on the right, Lijó on the left
In the FIP ranking dated 28 September, Leonel “Tolito” Aguirre is No. 32 with 2,094 points, while Pablo Lijó is No. 46 with 1,281 points. Their official profiles also list their usual sides: Aguirre on the right and Lijó on the left. The source reporting the partnership says Aguirre would therefore return to the right after playing on the left with Pablo García.
The FIP profiles still show their current partners: Pablo García for Aguirre and Francisco Manuel Gil for Lijó. That 28 September update is consistent with a change later in the month, but it does not confirm an Aguirre-Lijó registration for the Kuwait Major.
In late August, after winning the FIP Silver McAllen with Antonio “Pincho” Fernández, Aguirre praised that temporary partnership in a statement published by the FIP:
Antonio, it is a real pleasure to play alongside you.
The quote is not about Lijó and does not confirm their future partnership. It does show that Aguirre has already changed partners during the 2026 season and won immediately on the CUPRA FIP Tour.
The Milano P1 comes before the Kuwait Major
The Milano P1 is scheduled from 12 to 18 October, followed by the Kuwait Major from 26 to 31 October. Padel Magazine reports that Aguirre and García are due to end their partnership after Milan, while Lijó would leave Xisco Gil before the event in Kuwait.
The Kuwait Major will be played at The Arena Kuwait. The FIP lists a 48-pair men’s draw and total prize money of €1,044,849. Men’s qualifying starts on 23 October, with the first round of the main draw scheduled for 25 October in the published timetable.
The final player list still needs checking after 7 October
Aguirre and Lijó have a combined 3,375 FIP points based on the 28 September ranking. Any seeded status will depend on the complete entry list. Registration for the Kuwait Major remains open until 7 October at 5:00 pm CET.
The final player list published after registration closes will confirm whether the partnership is entered as announced. Until then, Aguirre-Lijó can be described as a duo announced for the Kuwait Major, but not yet as a pair officially validated by a public FIP player list.
