Padel continues to push its limits. In Buenos Aires, the fifth day of the Premier Padel P1 made history with an exceptional attendance at the Estadio Mary Terán de Weiss. No fewer than 16,920 spectators attended the semifinals at the Parque Roca venue, setting a new world record for a padel match.
This figure surpassed the previous benchmark set last year in Buenos Aires, with 16,156 spectators. Further proof of Argentina’s passion for the sport, in a boiling-hot atmosphere that buoyed the local players and provided a unique frame for the semifinals. Brea and Triay turn a compromised situation around
In the women’s draw, it was a particularly intense evening for Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay. The top seeded pair came close to elimination against Claudia Fernandez and Sofia Araujo.

Trailing after losing the first set and with their backs against the wall in the second, Brea and Triay even had to save a match point at 3/6 5/6. Encouraged by the Argentinian crowd, they finally reversed the trend to win after 3 hours and 03 minutes: 3/6 7/6 6/4.
This victory takes them into a new final, where they will meet their great rivals of the moment: Paula Josemaria and Bea Gonzalez.
Josemaria and Gonzalez back again
Paula Josemaria and Bea Gonzalez also had to battle it out in three sets. Against Ari Sanchez and Andrea Ustero, they got off to a poor start, losing the first set 6/2.
But the reaction was immediate. More solid in the crucial moments, Josemaria and Gonzalez then took control of the match to win 2/6 7/5 6/4.
The women’s final will offer a new episode in the rivalry between the two best pairs of the moment. It will already be the sixth consecutive final between Brea/Triay and Josemaria/Gonzalez. After Delfi and Gemma’s triumph in Cancun, Paula and Bea string together four titles in a row in Miami, Newgiza, Brussels and Asuncion.
Coello/Tapia versus Chingotto/Galan: the men’s classic
The men’s final also features a big match-up: Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia face Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan.
The two best pairs on the circuit will meet for the 34th time. Ahead of this new confrontation, Coello and Tapia lead their direct duels with 21 wins against 12.
In contrast to the women’s semifinals, the men’s favorites won in straight sets. First, Coello and Tapia dominated Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas 6/2 7/6. Chingotto and Galan then went on to defeat Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger 6/0 6/3.
This men’s semi-final had a special flavour after several upsets in the draw, including the elimination of some headline acts. Read our article on Bautista/Campagnolo and Di Nenno/Gonzalez at Buenos Aires P1.
