An altercation in the middle of Buenos Aires P1
The Buenos Aires Premier Padel P1, held from May 10 to 17, 2026 at the Complejo Deportivo Parque Roca, has been caught up in an extra-sporting sequence. Facu Guzzetti, a player representative and close associate of Lisandro Borges, claims to have been violently ejected from the site by several men he presents as linked to Santiago Brito, president of the Pádel Argentino Association.
In the video posted on his social networks, Guzzetti appears to be in contact with several people at the entrance or in the vicinity of the site. He claims to have been grabbed by the neck, punched in the body and taken out of the enclosure while in an area open to the public. He also claims that a reference to Borges was made during the altercation. At this stage, these elements are part of his version and should be treated as accusations.
Brito-Borges conflict in the background
The episode has not arisen in a neutral climate. For several years now, Argentine padel has been in the midst of fierce opposition between the camp of Santiago Brito, head of the APA, and that of Lisandro Borges, an influential figure in player representation. Public exchanges have often been tense, with recurrent criticism of governance, organization and power relations in local padel.
In this context, Guzzetti’s statement goes beyond the simple incident of access. He claims to have gone to the police station to lodge a complaint, and then to a doctor to have any injuries confirmed. The use of the Spanish term matones, which can be translated as “henchmen”, further accentuates the seriousness of his account, even though there is no complete institutional version of the events that can be definitively established at this stage.
A blurred image for Argentine padel
The timing is sensitive. The Buenos Aires P1 is one of the major South American events on the circuit, with large crowds, well-followed Argentine players and strong international exposure. To see the news shift to an alleged altercation at the entrance to the site blurs the sporting message the tournament is trying to send.
For Argentine padel, the stakes are therefore higher than just the Guzzetti affair at Parque Roca. It’s now a question of clarifying the facts, letting any proceedings take their course and preventing a governance conflict from taking over the court. In a fast-growing sport, the credibility of a major event also depends on security, transparency and the ability of the players to contain tensions off the track.
To remember:
- Facu Guzzetti claims to have been violently evicted from Parque Roca during Buenos Aires P1 2026.
- He implicates people he presents as being linked to Santiago Brito, president of the APA.
- The incident is part of the long-standing conflict between the Brito camp and the Borges camp.
- The disputed facts must remain attributed to Guzzetti pending official confirmation.
