Premier Padel makes its London debut
Premier Padel is staging its first event in London. The main draw of the London Premier Padel P1 runs from 4 to 9 August 2026 at Olympia London. The total prize fund is €479,068.
The first main-draw matches were played on Tuesday. Christian Medina Murphy and Alberto García Jiménez closed the day with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Gutiérrez and Giuliani. The British player is the only home representative still in the main draw.
Aimee Gibson and Catherine Rose pushed Alix Collombon and Ksenia Sharifova before losing 6-1, 7-6(5). Louie Harris went down 6-3, 6-2 to Santiago Pineda and Javier Ruiz. Chris Salisbury and Alfonso Patacho were beaten 6-2, 6-4 by Juan Cruz Belluati and Ignacio Piotto.
Before the tournament, GB coach and LTA National Performance Pathway Manager Libby Fletcher had warned:
It will be very difficult for all of the players as it’s a huge step up in level for most of them.
Medina Murphy’s victory therefore prevented the entire British contingent from leaving the main draw on its opening day.
The leading pairs enter the Round of 32 at Olympia
On Wednesday, Medina Murphy and García Jiménez will meet No. 10 seeds Juan Tello and Maxi Arce in the final match on Centre Court. Play starts at 10:00 local time with Marta Ortega and Sofia Araújo against Giulia Dal Pozzo and Nuria Rodríguez.
World No. 1s Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia open against Nuno and Miguel Deus. The Portuguese brothers came back to beat Vilariño and Zamora 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 in the first round. What does Round of 32 mean?
Round of 32 means the last 32, or the round before the last 16. It features 32 pairs or players and 16 matches. The Round of 16 is the following stage.
In the women’s draw, the top four seeded pairs, Triay-Brea, González-Josemaría, Sánchez-Ustero and Calvo-Fernández, enter directly in the Round of 16 on Thursday. Wednesday’s matches must first complete the draw and bring the main men’s pairs into the tournament.
