The Premier Padel age record could change hands this Sunday, August 9, in London. Martina Calvo, a Spanish player born on July 5, 2008, in Pamplona, is 18 and will play the London P1 final alongside Claudia Fernández. A win over Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea would give her a first title on the tour and set the record at 18 years, 1 month and 4 days.
Martina Calvo, 18, with a record in play
Andrea Ustero has held the record since winning the 2025 Bordeaux P2 at 18 years, 2 months and 4 days. Calvo could lower that mark by one month. The FIP ranked her world No. 12 on August 3 with 5,599 points.
The player from Navarre already had a chance to break the record at the Pretoria P1, her first tournament with Fernández. Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea won that final 6-2, 6-7(5), 7-6(4). The same matchup returns seven days later, this time at Olympia London.
In early June, Calvo summed up her progress in an interview with Mundo Deportivo:
“If I keep doing things well, I’ll have the chance to play with the best.”
Fernández-Calvo: two tournaments, two finals
The partnership has produced immediate results. In Pretoria, Fernández and Calvo beat Bea González and Paula Josemaría 6-1, 6-4 in the semi-finals. In London, they faced the world No. 2 pair again at the same stage and won 6-2, 6-4. Two meetings, two straight-set victories.
The project had been considered months before it became reality. Actu Padel looked back at how the partnership came together before their Pretoria debut. Fernández plays on the right and Calvo on the left, with clearly defined roles: construction and variation on one side, volume and initiative on the other.
Triay-Brea stand in the way again
The London final puts Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea across the net once more. The world No. 1 pair beat Ariana Sánchez and Andrea Ustero 7-6(4), 5-7, 6-3 in the semi-finals. They will play their 13th final in 15 tournaments this season and chase a sixth title in 2026.
The women’s final is scheduled for Sunday from 2 p.m. in London. Premier Padel confirms that Calvo would become the youngest champion in tour history with a victory. The record now comes down to one match. For the 18-year-old, it would also be the first Premier Padel title of her career.
