Argentina turn a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 win over Spain
The men’s final went the full five matches and the lead changed twice. Agustín Gómez Silingo and Adrián Allemandi put Argentina ahead in the +40 category by beating Enric Sanmartí and Gerard Company 6-1, 6-1. Spain responded in +60, where Pablo Semprún and Luis Menéndez defeated Alejandro Lasaigues and Alejandro Novillo 6-3, 6-3.
Spain moved 2-1 ahead in the third match. Guillermo Lahoz and Antonio Ochoa beat Hernán Auguste and Roby Gattiker 6-4, 6-4 in +55. The hosts then had to win both remaining matches to retain the trophy they had claimed in La Nucía in 2024.
Fernando Poggi and Ramiro Nanni levelled the tie at 2-2 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Raúl Arias and Daniel Losada in +50. The deciding match then paired Cristian Gutiérrez and Miguel Lamperti against Aday Santana and Javi Limones. The Argentinians won 6-4, 6-3 in 1 hour 29 minutes to secure the 3-2 team victory. All five scores are available on the official FIP Senior World Cup 2026 event page.
Lamperti and Gutiérrez decide the final in the +45 category
The Senior World Cup team format assigns one match to each of the +40, +45, +50, +55 and +60 categories. The men’s final reached the fifth match, played in +45. Lamperti and Gutiérrez won in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-3.
The Buenos Aires title is Argentina’s second in a row. Spain won the 2018 and 2022 editions before Argentina took the trophy in 2024. The same two countries have met in the men’s final at all four editions and each now has two titles.
The FIP staged the competition in Argentina for the first time. When the host was announced in April, FIP president Luigi Carraro said:
We are pleased that the FIP Senior World Cup will be held for the first time in Argentina.
Spain retain the women’s title without needing a fourth match
Lucía Sainz and Lorena Alonso opened the final against the United States with a 6-1, 6-2 win in +40 over Egle Petrauskaite and Ana Zubori. Belén Castrillo and María Vaquero then won 6-0, 6-0 in +60 against Andrea Neugarten and Rhona Kaczmarczyk. Eva Gayoso and María Wakonigg delivered the third point in +55, beating Lisa Teer and Veronica Costabel 6-1, 6-3.
Spain won the tie 3-0 and collected a fourth FIP Senior World Cup women’s title in four editions, following 2018, 2022 and 2024. The United States were playing their first women’s final in the competition. Actu Padel has detailed the three matches and Spain’s run in a separate article on the fourth title.
France beat Italy 3-0 to take men’s bronze
France beat Italy 3-0 in the men’s third-place tie. Maxime Mannarino and Nicolas Sanchez won 6-2, 6-2 in +40. Olivier Cayla and Jérôme Lagloire then came back to win 3-6, 6-4, 10-7 in +60, before François Veber and Olivier Romary completed the tie with a 6-2, 6-3 victory in +55.
Arnaud Clément was part of the French line-up and would have played the fifth match had the tie reached that point, according to the official FIP event recap. The 3-0 score made that match unnecessary. France return to the third place they achieved in 2022, after losing the 2024 final to Argentina.
In the women’s event, the Netherlands beat Belgium 3-1 to take third place. Belgium won the opening match before the Dutch team took the next three through Schuur/Van Wijk, Rutten/Van Hoorn and Sterkenburg/Van Boven.
Senior padel World Cup 2026 in Buenos Aires from 14 to 19 September
The final phase of the 2026 Senior Padel World Cup was played in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 14 to 19 September, after the men’s qualifying phase began on 11 September. The FIP brought together 32 men’s teams and 26 women’s teams for the fourth edition.
The competition used the five +40, +45, +50, +55 and +60 age categories adopted for this edition. In April, the FIP announced the larger men’s field and the revised age groups in its tournament announcement. Buenos Aires became the first South American city to host the FIP Senior World Cup.
The men’s honours are now split between Spain, champions in 2018 and 2022, and Argentina, winners in 2024 and 2026. Spain remain the only country to have won the women’s title since the competition began.
