A 6-1 6-0 opening win at the FIP Silver Budapest
Clément Geens and Dylan Guichard beat Jules Marie and Romain Sichez 6-1 6-0 on Friday 18 September in the first round of the FIP Silver Budapest Open II. The Franco-Belgian pair, seeded fourth, dropped only one game and moved into the round of 16.
The FIP ranking published on 14 September places Geens at world No. 68 with 910 points and Guichard at No. 75 with 868 points. Those are the career-high rankings currently shown on their official profiles. The Budapest draw gives Geens and Guichard 1,581 combined team points, which puts them among the eight seeded pairs.
The men’s main draw contains 32 pairs. The FIP scheduled the first round for Friday, the round of 16 and quarter-finals for Saturday, and the semi-finals and final for Sunday. The tournament winner will receive 80 FIP points.
Sassano and Navarro Porras next
Geens and Guichard will face Gonzalo Sassano and Noe Navarro Porras on Saturday. The Italian-Spanish pair beat Zsombor Schmidt-Bohn and Moritz Felber 6-0 6-2 in the opening round. Navarro Porras is ranked No. 231 in the ranking published on 14 September and is coming off a quarter-final at the FIP Gold Bucharest.
At the time of verification, the official page still shows only the order of play for Friday 18 September. The exact time of the round-of-16 match has therefore not yet been published. The general schedule does confirm two rounds on Saturday. A win over Sassano and Navarro Porras would send Geens and Guichard back on court later that day for a quarter-final.
A Palermo title and a Porto final in 2026
Geens and Guichard have already won the FIP Silver Palermo together in June and reached the FIP Silver Porto final in July. They have also just played consecutive Premier Padel main draws in Madrid and at the Paris Major, results that have accompanied their rise in the rankings.
After their semi-final at the FIP Gold Abidjan, Geens told Actu Padel:
We’re happy to have made a semi-final and played a strong match against Garrido and Bergamini.
The round of 16 against Sassano and Navarro Porras is scheduled for Saturday 19 September. If they qualify, Geens and Guichard will play the quarter-final the same day. The semi-finals and final are scheduled for Sunday 20 September.
