Update: Dylan Guichard and Clément Geens have advanced another round at the Premier Padel Andalucía Málaga P1. After earning their place in the main draw, the Franco-Belgian pair confirmed their strong form against M. Aragón Herrera and A. Roglán Pons. That victory extended the momentum built during qualifying and showed their ability to back up one result with another at a demanding P1 event. Guichard and Geens will now face Javier García and José Jiménez Casas, with the match expected to begin at around 12:15 p.m. on Court 2, depending on the progress of the schedule. Watch live.
Dylan Guichard and Clément Geens have secured their place in the main draw of the Premier Padel Andalucía Málaga P1. The French-Belgian pair defeated Argentinians Juan Pablo Dametto and Felipe Calleja 6-3, 7-5 in a controlled second qualifying-round match, although the second set proved more demanding.
Guichard and Geens will therefore compete in the Málaga main draw after living up to their position as the fourth seeds in qualifying. The result comes at a P1 tournament held from July 11 to 19, 2026, featuring a 48-pair men’s main draw and the leading names on the international circuit.
A qualification secured in two stages
Guichard and Geens began their qualifying campaign against Alejandro Jerez Carnero and Jesús Moya Sos before facing Dametto and Calleja for a place in the main draw. The objective was clear: live up to their seeding, avoid an unnecessarily long match and preserve enough energy and focus for the next stage.
The opening set established the pattern of the match. The 6-3 scoreline reflected their stronger positioning at the net and their ability to control the important games. The second set was tighter. At 7-5, the French-Belgian pair had to remain composed as their opponents moved closer to forcing a deciding set.
First round scheduled for Monday at 9 a.m.
Dylan Guichard and Clément Geens now know the schedule for their opening match in the main draw. They will face the Spanish pair of M. Aragón Herrera and A. Roglán Pons, who also came through the qualifying rounds.
The match is scheduled to begin from 9:00 a.m. local time on Monday, July 13, on Court 2. Guichard and Geens will therefore play one of the first matches of the day in Málaga as they attempt to build on the momentum gained during qualifying.
Who are Guichard and Geens?
Dylan Guichard is one of the most closely followed French players on the international circuit, while Clément Geens is one of the leading figures in Belgian padel. On the entry list published before the tournament, Guichard was ranked 96th in the world and Geens 89th, with their partnership holding a combined total of 1,460 points.
Their complementary qualities are one reason why this qualification means more than a single result. Both players have already shown that they can compete with more established partnerships, provided they remain consistent during the key moments of a match.
A main draw on another level
The Málaga P1 is far from being a transitional tournament. According to the official FIP documents, the world’s leading pairs are competing, including Coello/Tapia, Galán/Chingotto, Lebrón/Augsburger, Stupaczuk/Yanguas, Nieto/Sanz and Di Nenno/Navarro.
At this stage, the important point is not only that Guichard and Geens qualified, but also how they achieved it: without dropping a set in the decisive match and with enough composure to close out a tense second set. At a P1 tournament, that mental strength can be just as important as the level of play.
The main draw will now reveal how far the pair can extend their Andalusian campaign. Their qualification has already established one certainty: Guichard and Geens completed the task expected of them and will enter the first round with an extra match in their legs, but also with positive momentum.
