A straight-sets win to start qualifying
Dylan Guichard and Clément Geens cleared their first hurdle at the Comunidad de Madrid P1. The No. 6 seeds in qualifying beat Marco Cassetta and Fabián Oviedo Berazategui 6-2, 7-6 on Saturday evening on Pro Padel 2.
The opening set gave them an early advantage. The second was tighter, but Guichard and Geens won the tie-break. They now need one more victory to reach the men’s main draw, which will include eight pairs coming through qualifying.
The Franco-Belgian pair already have several results together in 2026. In the FIP ranking published on August 24, Clément Geens is world No. 81 and Dylan Guichard No. 87. They also came through qualifying at the Málaga P1 in July, a run previously covered by Actu Padel.
After the match, Geens confirmed the next appointment in a story on his official Instagram account:
Final round of qualifying tomorrow around 8 p.m. We keep going, Guich.

Gil and Reina Ambel, not before 8 p.m.
The final round will pit Guichard and Geens against Spaniards Diego Gil and Pablo Reina Ambel. Sunday’s official order of play puts them in the last rotation on Pro Padel 2, with the match listed not before 8 p.m.
“Not before 8 p.m.” is not a fixed start time. The FIP document states that matches may be moved from one court to another and will be officially called from the players’ lounge. The tournament’s order of play therefore remains the best reference during the day.
A win over Gil and Reina Ambel would send Guichard and Geens into the Madrid P1 main draw, with the men’s first round starting on Tuesday, September 1. After this straight-sets win, the Franco-Belgian pair have one match to secure one of the eight qualifying spots. Men’s qualifying is held at Club Pro Padel Coslada before the main draw moves to Movistar Arena.
