Paula Josemaría makes even more padel history
Some victories count double. The victory in Asunción is one of them for
Paula Josemaría.
Alongside Bea González, the Spaniard won the Paraguayan P2 after a stunning final
against Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea, which ended with a score of 4/6 6/3 6/3. An important success
not only in sporting terms, but also symbolically: Josemaría has now reached the milestone of
50 career titles.
At the age of 29, the Extremadura-born player continues to establish her name among the great
figures of her generation. Her career tells a simple story: through the seasons,
circuit changes and associations, Paula Josemaría remains a sure thing at the major
events.
50th title achieved with impressive momentum
This trophy in Asunción does not come in isolation. It is a contract extension to a particularly strong sequence
for the Josemaría / González pair, who have just stringed together four consecutive
titles on tour. After Miami, NewGiza and Brussels, the two Spaniards confirmed
in Paraguay that they are now the most confident team in the women’s draw.
Their final against Triay and Brea perfectly recapped this build momentum. Trailing after
the loss of the first set, Josemaría and González gradually regained control of the tempo.
More aggressive at key moments, more solid in the long exchanges, they finally
imposed their intensity in the last two sets.
To re-read their previous success, our article on
the coronation of Bea González and Paula Josemaría at the NewGiza P2
already showed the point to which this association had changed dimension in the spring.
Josemaría and González, a pair that shakes up the hierarchy
What stands out most is not just the number of trophies, but the nature of the opponents
defeated. For several weeks now, Josemaría and González have been getting the better of
Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea, the season’s benchmarks.
This repetition of finals between the two pairs sets up a clear rivalry for the
women’s circuit. On the one hand, Triay and Brea maintain an extremely stable game. On
the other, Josemaría and González seem to have found the right balance between explosiveness,
court coverage and tactical lucidity.
An increasingly complete association
Bea González brings her power, her ability to accelerate in decisive areas and her
attacking instinct. Paula Josemaría, on the other hand, provides continuity, variation and a reading
of the game that enables the pair to remain dangerous even when the match becomes tense.
This complementarity explains their current run. It also explains why their victory at
Asunción was more of a confirmation than a mere flash in the pan. In a season where
each tournament weighs heavily in the hierarchy, Josemaría and González sent out a clear message
.
50 titles, and other records already in sight
With this 50th trophy, Paula Josemaría moves closer to several monuments of contemporary women’s padel
. Ari Sánchez and Gemma Triay are announced at 54 titles, while Alejandra Salazar
remains a notch higher at 58. The gap still exists, but it will close rapidly if the current momentum
continues.
- Paula Josemaría: 50 titles
- Ari Sánchez: 54 titles
- Gemma Triay : 54 titles
- Alejandra Salazar: 58 titles
This statistic is all the more impressive given that Josemaría is not yet in her thirties. She
still has plenty of scope to add to her list of achievements, especially if her
partnership with Bea González remains as effective as ever.
Asunción, a turning point in the women’s season?
The P2 in Asunción could go down as one of the pivotal moments of the first part of
season. Not only did Josemaría make a strong personal mark there, but his pair with
González also consolidated his status in the Race 2026.
The Paraguayan tournament also confirms a trend already observed in recent weeks:
the balance of power is shifting. Josemaría and González’s victory over
one of the most solid pairs of the moment lends weight to the idea of a much more open battle
for dominance on the women’s circuit.

A champion built on consistency
Paula Josemaría is not just a series player. Her strength lies above all in her ability
to last. Season after season, she stays in touch with the front-runners, absorbs the pressure of the
big events and continues to respond when expectations rise.
His 50th title rewards much more than just a successful week in Paraguay. It validates a
performance model based on consistency, high standards and adaptation. In an increasingly dense women’s padel scene
, this stability is becoming a major weapon.
