Three of the top four men’s seeds fall in the quarter-finals
Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz beat Ale Galán and Fede Chingotto 6-4, 6-4 in 1 hour 17 minutes to reach their first Premier Padel semi-final together. The No. 5 seeds began their partnership in late August and arrived in Rotterdam after winning the FIP Gold Belgrade and then finishing runners-up at the FIP Platinum Lyon.
Jon Sanz focused on the response they produced after losing the Lyon final to Javi Leal and Fran Guerrero. Speaking to Premier Padel after the quarter-final, the Spanish left-hander said:
We’re really happy with the way we turned things around here against the second-best pair in the world.
Mike Yanguas and Coki Nieto knocked out Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger 7-6, 6-3. They saved two set points in the opener before taking the tie-break 7-0, then earned an early break in the second set. The win sets up a direct semi-final against Stupaczuk-Sanz with the No. 4 seeding for the Milano P1 at stake.
Momo González and Lucas Campagnolo added another upset by beating Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno 2-6, 7-6, 7-5 after 2 hours 49 minutes. Trailing 4-5 in the third set, they saved two match points and won the final three games. Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia are the only pair from the top four seeds still in the draw after defeating Tino Libaak and Gonza Alfonso 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Stupaczuk-Sanz and Yanguas-Nieto meet former partners
The second men’s semi-final brings together four players who know the opposite side well. Stupaczuk played with Yanguas for most of the first part of 2026. Nieto and Sanz have also shared the court, including when they won the 2024 Premier Padel Finals in Barcelona.
The current pairings already faced each other in their first tournament together, the FIP Gold Belgrade. Stupaczuk-Sanz won that final 6-3, 7-5 against Nieto-Yanguas. The rematch also affects the seeding battle: in Rotterdam, the two teams are competing for the No. 4 seed at Milan. Actu Padel covered their first meeting in Belgrade.
The top four women’s seeds all reach the semi-finals
All four highest-seeded women’s teams reached the semi-finals. Triay-Brea will face Sánchez-Ustero after beating Salazar-Osoro 6-0, 6-4. Josemaría-González, who defeated Ortega-Araújo 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, will meet Fernández-Calvo after their 6-3, 7-5 win over Jensen-Escacena. All four highest-seeded women’s teams are through to the semi-finals.
Claudia Jensen partnered Claudia Escacena in Rotterdam because of Tamara Icardo’s injury. Premier Padel says Icardo is continuing her recovery and Jensen will play the Germany P2 in Düsseldorf with Noa Cánovas. The Rotterdam semi-finals take place on Saturday 3 October, with the finals scheduled for Sunday at 4 p.m. at Rotterdam Ahoy. Official results and timings are available on the FIP tournament page.
