Simon Yitbarek wins both doubles in Aarhus
Simon Yitbarek played his first two matches for Skagen/Frederikshavn on Friday 2 October in Aarhus, at Pakhus 77. The northern Danish team won the men’s Elitedivision tie 6-0, with the Swede fielded in the No. 1 doubles match in both rotations.
Yitbarek first partnered Willy Tiger Släryd and they won 6-3, 6-2. He then shared the court with Adam Axelsson for a second victory, 6-2, 6-1. Across his debut, the 25-year-old won four sets and conceded eight games.
Skagen/Frederikshavn won all six matches in straight sets. Sporting director Allan Kolbro Nielsen praised the new signing’s quick integration after the tie, in comments published by Kanal Frederikshavn and translated from Danish.
It was great to see Simon in action. He settled into the team straight away.
A Swedish addition for a Danish title bid
Skagen/Frederikshavn signed Yitbarek to strengthen a squad that has collected three consecutive silver medals in the Danish team championship. The club said in August that it wanted more options on the right side of the court, Yitbarek’s position.
Yitbarek, Släryd and Axelsson also know each other from the Swedish national setup. All three were selected for Sweden’s men’s squad at the 2024 World Championships, where Yitbarek and Släryd made their senior national-team debuts. Against the Netherlands, Yitbarek won with Simon Vasquez before Släryd and Axelsson added Sweden’s second victory.
Yitbarek also arrives with several recent results on the FIP circuit. In the FIP ranking dated 28 September 2026, he sits at a career-high No. 420 with 75 points. He reached the quarter-finals of the FIP Silver in Espoo in August, followed by round-of-16 finishes at the FIP Silvers in Utrecht and Budapest in September.
Skagen/Frederikshavn will play its next home tie on Friday 16 October at Skagen Padelcenter. The fourth round is set to decide the lead in the Western Elitedivision standings and is also listed on the Danish Padel Federation’s 2026 calendar.
