Tato Torres accident: first indications from Tegucigalpa
Latin American padel has been struck by a sudden death. Brayan Alexis “Tato” Torres, a 27-year-old Argentine player, died in a road accident on the night of April 27 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The news quickly spread to Argentina, Honduras and Spain, as his career had taken him far beyond the frames of his native province.
According to information relayed by TN and La Prensa, Torres was traveling on the passenger side of a vehicle on the Honduran capital’s Anillo Periférico. According to initial local reports, the car collided with the rear of a truck parked on the side of the road, near the Villas del Sol area. Trapped inside, the player was extracted by emergency services, but did not survive the violent clash.
The Direction Nationale de Vialidad y Transporte, quoted in several media reports, suggests that the driver was speeding and under the influence of alcohol. The investigation is still under way, but the Honduran authorities could qualify the case as ahomicide with possible intent, as the local press put it.
