A high-voltage final to reach the main draw
The women’s wild card at the Buenos Aires Premier Padel P1 went to Daniela Banchero and Irene Jiménez. On April 5, the APA made their qualification official after a 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 victory in the final against Belén Mosca and Sofía Luini, at the end of three days of competition played at the Premium APA Center. This three-set final confirmed the Argentinian pair’s solidity in a format where every game carries weight, because it leads not just to a side title, but directly to the main draw of a Premier Padel tournament.
The stage had already been set on March 31, when the Asociación Pádel Argentino announced this wild card tournament reserved for direct access to the Buenos Aires P1 main draw. Among the duos entered were Banchero and Jiménez, in a dense and very local women’s draw, designed as an on-ramp to the elite. In short, this women’s wild card at the Buenos Aires Premier Padel P1 gave the winning pair a rare shortcut to the very highest level, without having to go through a long qualifying round.
Qualification confirms their progress
This qualification didn’t come out of the blue. Daniela Banchero and Irene Jiménez had already been on the FIP tour and had their first exposure on Buenos Aires P1 in 2025. Although not yet part of the headline act, both players are progressing on a steady trajectory, giving added weight to this wild card obtained at home.
The duo’s sporting profile makes this qualification even more significant. The official FIP records of Daniela Banchero and Irene Jiménez show that in the spring of 2026, the two players each had 85 points, with a career-best ranking of 235th. These same profiles also recall that they had already contested the Buenos Aires P1 in 2025, concluding their passage to the first round of the main draw. So this new wild card doesn’t come out of nowhere: it’s the continuation of a pair already visible on the international scene and capable of returning to this level of competition.
A major sporting opportunity in Argentina’s big event
For the Argentine pair, this success changes the scale of the spring season. On the FIP calendar consulted in April 2026, the Buenos Aires Premier Padel P1 is scheduled from May 11 to 17 in Buenos Aires, and the APA has included it as part of its ongoing build momentum towards Parque Roca, the site announced for the event. For an Argentinian pair, entering the main draw of such a tournament directly, at home, in front of their own fans, represents much more than just a spotlight: it’s a concrete chance to rub shoulders with the best players on the circuit in a context of very high exposure.
Beyond the result alone, the episode also tells something about Argentine padel in 2026. Back in early March, the APA launched the Road to Buenos Aires Premier Padel P1 to build bridges to the tournament, then announced a FIP Silver in San Martín as the door to the men’s draw. The women’s wild card tournament at the Premium APA Center follows the same logic: to connect the national breeding ground to the top of the circuit. Banchero and Jiménez have taken the most coveted spot on the women’s side, and now arrive at Buenos Aires P1 as a pair to watch.
