Florencia Guerra Sodero has been provisionally removed from Argentina’s padel delegation due to compete at the 2026 “Libres Amateur” Pan-American event. The Asociación Pádel Argentino (APA) made the decision after antisemitic posts from personal accounts attributed to the player circulated publicly. The APA also opened disciplinary proceedings under the International Padel Federation (FIP) Disciplinary Code.
A provisional measure before the Pan-American event in Asunción
Florencia Guerra Sodero was due to join the Argentine delegation for the competition scheduled from 21 to 24 October 2026 in Asunción, Paraguay. The amateur player from Córdoba province had qualified for the event for a second consecutive year.
The post that prompted the APA’s response accompanied the announcement of her participation and explicitly excluded Jewish people. Earlier posts attributed to her accounts were subsequently reported by Argentine media. The Instagram post at the centre of the case was deleted and the account was no longer accessible when we checked it.
The APA described the removal as a provisional measure rather than a final disciplinary ruling. Guerra Sodero will be able to present her defence under the procedure based on the FIP Disciplinary Code, which the international federation publishes among its official documents.
The APA cites conduct rules tied to national-team representation
In its statement dated 23 September, the APA said it “categorically repudiates the antisemitic expressions” published from the player’s personal accounts. The association linked its decision to the responsibilities of national-team representation and FIP rules requiring respect for individuals and prohibiting abusive language, including on social media.
“Anyone who wears the national-team shirt represents all Argentines, without excluding anyone.”
The statement makes clear that the measure is preventive while the disciplinary process remains open.
The FIP makes its Disciplinary Code publicly available among its official documents. Opening the procedure does not prejudge the final decision, which will follow examination of the case and the player’s defence.
A place in the delegation is now unresolved
The public information reviewed confirms Guerra Sodero’s provisional removal and the opening of disciplinary proceedings. The APA has not announced a replacement for the Pan-American event in Asunción in the material reviewed.
Argentina’s delegation must prepare for the competition starting on 21 October while the disciplinary process continues separately. Any final decision concerning Florencia Guerra Sodero will depend on that procedure.
