The FIP Bronze Portimão 2026 takes place from 5 to 9 August at the Municipal Tennis and Padel Complex in Portimão, Portugal. The men’s and women’s main draws begin on Friday 7 August with three French players involved: Manuel Vives, Olivier Guy de Chamisso and Laura Buteau.
Vives and Guy de Chamisso are the No. 10 seeds in the men’s draw. Buteau partners Morocco’s Camilia Benabdeljalil. Their opening opponents are known, apart from the team coming through qualifying that awaits the two Frenchmen.
Dates, format and points at FIP Bronze Portimão 2026
The official tournament page lists prize money of €10,000 and outdoor courts. The first two rounds of the main draw will be played on Friday, the quarterfinals on Saturday, followed by the semifinals and finals on Sunday.
Both draws award 3 points in the opening round, 5 in the round of 16, 8 in the quarterfinals, 14 in the semifinals, 22 to the finalists and 40 to the champions. The municipality also announces free admission to the complex. Its sports calendar confirms both men’s and women’s draws.
Vives and Guy de Chamisso start against a qualifier
Vives, ranked world No. 210 in the list published on 3 August, and Guy de Chamisso, No. 248, will open against a team from qualifying or a lucky loser. With a win, the French pair would face the winner of Ignacio Alonso Chillaron and Mario Rodriguez Marcos against another qualifier or lucky loser.
The partnership combines Vives’s international experience with the fast progress of 17-year-old Guy de Chamisso. The young left-hander has already won a FIP Bronze title in Marnes this season. Speaking to L’Équipe on 20 May about his priorities, he set out a path focused on development.
“My goal is not money or my ranking for now. I am trying to improve my game and my physical development.”
Portimão gives him another test against pairs accustomed to the international circuit. The first challenge will be handling an opponent that remains unknown, with little recovery time between the two rounds scheduled for Friday.
Buteau and Benabdeljalil open against a wild card
Laura Buteau and Camilia Benabdeljalil will face Dutch player Karin Marlies Lems and Portugal’s Diana Lemeshko, who received a wild card. The draw places this match in the section of the No. 1 seeds.
A win could therefore send Buteau and Benabdeljalil into a round-of-16 meeting with Clarinha Santos and Brittany Dubins. That match first depends on the favourites beating a qualifying pair. The opening round remains the priority before a possible rise in difficulty a few hours later.
Friday’s schedule will provide the first answers. The French players must get through their opening matches, then recover quickly if a second contest follows on the same day. In Portimão, every win will matter both in the draw and in the race for FIP ranking points.
