Esbri and Jofre win the final in the third tie-break
Esbri and Jofre arrived in Italy after reaching the semi-finals of the FIP Platinum Lyon, where they lost 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 to Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz. One week later, another match went to a deciding tie-break and this time they finished on the winning side.
The pair began Sunday with a 7-6, 6-4 semi-final win over Sanyo Gutierrez and Alex Chozas. A few hours later, Barahona and Sanchez Blasco took the second set of the final, but Esbri and Jofre won the third tie-break to close the match.
Esbri discussed the title in a statement published by the FIP:
I’m happy to have won in Perugia. We’re at the beginning of our journey, but we’re getting on very well together.
Esbri and Jofre are entered in the Germany P2 in Düsseldorf, whose main draw starts on 6 October. The Milano P1 follows from 12 to 18 October. Their Perugia title is worth 150 FIP ranking points, the allocation announced for the tournament winners.
Virseda and Fassio finish the week with a 6-3, 6-3 win
Veronica Virseda and Martina Fassio, the No. 1 seeds, won the women’s final against Raquel Eugenio and Jimena Velasco in straight sets. Their semi-final went to three sets against Giulia Dal Pozzo and Nuria Rodriguez, who took the opener before Virseda and Fassio came back to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Virseda, ranked 16th by the FIP before the tournament, had already won the FIP Platinum Albania and the Paredes Platinum in 2026. Fassio, ranked 24th, had won the FIP Gold Ponta Delgada. In Perugia, the pair added another CUPRA FIP Tour title to their season.
Virseda said after the final that she no longer focused on the ranking points at stake or on being a top seed. Her priority is to concentrate on the level of play. The Perugia title is also worth 150 FIP points to the women’s champions.
