Yanguas and Coki Nieto registered together for Madrid P1
Mike Yanguas and Coki Nieto are reuniting for Madrid P1. The tournament entry list shows the two Spaniards together for the return of Premier Padel. The main draw will run from 1 to 6 September at Movistar Arena, according to the official FIP event page.
The move produces a second pairing. Franco Stupaczuk, who has just split from Yanguas, is joining Jon Sanz, previously Nieto’s partner. Actu Padel had reported that partnership for Madrid on 10 August. The four players now reappear as two different teams.
For Yanguas and Nieto, this is not a first. They already shared the court in 2022 and then throughout the 2025 season. Their return therefore revives a partnership both players know, rather than starting a project from scratch.
A reunion after a titleless 2025 season
Their last season together was consistent but did not produce a Premier Padel title. The FIP profiles for Yanguas and Nieto each record 62 matches and 41 wins in 2025, with zero titles. Their split at the end of the year sent them into separate projects for 2026.
In December 2025, Coki Nieto was still pointing in another direction at an ASICS event in Barcelona, in an interview published by PadelSpain. His words carry a different meaning eight months later.
“Next year I will have a new project and I will not be with Yanguas.”
Madrid therefore marks a quick return to a partnership that has already been tested. The context has changed: Yanguas is currently world No. 8 and Nieto is No. 10, according to the FIP ranking dated 10 August.
A 21-point lead over Stupaczuk and Sanz
The immediate consequence is visible in the seedings. Current FIP points give Yanguas 6,381 and Nieto 5,316, for a combined 11,697 points. Stupaczuk, world No. 7, has 6,570 and Sanz, No. 12, has 5,106, for a combined 11,676 points.
The gap is only 21 points. If the rankings are unchanged when the seeds are set, Yanguas-Nieto would start Madrid as the No. 4 pair, just ahead of Stupaczuk-Sanz at No. 5. That narrow margin can change their place in the draw if the rankings move before the tournament.
Madrid P1 closes entries on 12 August at 5 p.m. CET. The new pair is now known, but its advantage over Stupaczuk-Sanz remains slim before competition resumes.
