Five of the eight semifinal places at the Germany P2 have already been decided on Friday 9 October in Düsseldorf. Tapia and Coello, Lebrón and Augsburger, and three women’s pairs have won their quarterfinals. The remaining three matches are scheduled for the afternoon and evening.
Tapia and Coello through, with two men’s quarterfinals still to come
Top seeds Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello beat Gonzalo Alfonso and Tino Libaak 6-2, 7-5. They will meet Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger in the semifinals after the No. 3 seeds defeated Juan Tello and Maxi Arce 6-3, 6-3.
Arce and Tello had knocked out Clément Geens and Nacho Moragues Moltò in Thursday’s round of 16, 7-5, 6-3. The Belgian had won four matches alongside his Spanish partner before leaving Düsseldorf.
In the other half of the draw, defending champions Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto are due to play Maxi Sánchez Blasco and Sanyo Gutiérrez from 6 p.m. Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz, Rotterdam finalists last week, face Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno from 8 p.m. Those matches will decide the other men’s semifinal.
Three women’s pairs advance as Brea and Triay prepare to play
