Spain has the most players in the women’s FIP Top 100. Italy is second with ten representatives, ahead of Argentina with eight and France with three.
From six players in February to ten at the end of September
Italian federation media counted six Italian women in the Top 100 on 16 February, then nine at the start of August. The total reached ten after Martina Parmigiani’s final at the FIP Silver Houten, a result that moved her back to world No. 100.
Dal Pozzo, 21, is now Italy’s No. 1 and has reached a career-best ranking of No. 26. Orsi remains in the Top 30. Stellato and Sussarello returned to the Top 100 through their results on the CUPRA FIP Tour. The women’s Top 100 tracked by Actu Padel also shows the gap between Italy’s leading pair and the group ranked from No. 74 to No. 100.
The FIP ranking system counts the 22 best results achieved on Premier Padel and the CUPRA FIP Tour, with points defended over a rolling 52-week cycle. Ten places in the Top 100 therefore come from results accumulated over several months, not from a single tournament.
Ten ranked players before the Doha World Cup
Caterina Baldi, No. 81 in the latest ranking, linked this progress to the arrival of younger players in an interview with SuperTennis in August. Translation from Italian:
I think it is very positive that young players are coming through, because they can help this sport continue to develop.
The FIP World Cup in Doha, scheduled by the FIP for 2 to 7 November, arrives with ten Italian women ranked inside the Top 100. The national team can draw on profiles ranging from a 21-year-old at No. 26 to experienced internationals who have returned to the Top 100 during the season.
