Coki Nieto has withdrawn from the Düsseldorf P2. The Madrid player announced the decision on Instagram on Monday evening before the main draw began. He said he has been dealing with physical discomfort for some time and needs to stop for a few days. The announcement comes two days after his Rotterdam P2 semi-final with Mike Yanguas.
Persistent discomfort keeps Coki Nieto out of Düsseldorf
Nieto gave a brief explanation without identifying the affected area or referring to a diagnosed injury. In the French translation displayed by Instagram, he confirmed that he will not compete in Germany.
I ultimately won’t be able to be in Düsseldorf.
The Madrid player said his priority is to recover before returning as soon as possible. His message gives no timeline and does not establish the exact nature of the discomfort. The calendar moves directly from Düsseldorf this week to the Milano P1 the following week.
Nieto and Yanguas had just completed a demanding week in Rotterdam. The Spaniards beat Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger 7-6, 6-3 in the quarter-finals before losing 6-0, 6-4 to Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz in the semi-finals. The FIP profile for Nieto also records a Madrid P1 final in early September alongside Yanguas. Actu Padel followed their run through the Rotterdam semi-finals.
Nieto had already documented his return at the start of the 2026 season on his official account. The post below predates the Düsseldorf announcement and does not establish any link between the current discomfort and an earlier episode.
Düsseldorf draw loses its No. 6 seeds
The FIP still listed Nieto and Yanguas on Monday as the No. 6 seeds at the Germany P2, with a possible quarter-final against Fede Chingotto and Ale Galán. The updated official draw no longer includes the Spanish pair and lists Lucas Bergamini and Jairo Bautista with the “LL” designation.
The men’s main draw starts on Tuesday, 6 October at CASTELLO Düsseldorf, with the round of 16 scheduled for Thursday, 8 October. Nieto did not announce a return date in his message. Düsseldorf therefore loses a pair that reached the semi-finals in Rotterdam and was still included in the FIP tournament preview published on 5 October.
