The Madrid P1 entry lists are closed. A review of the changes shows 29 new pairs after the summer break. One detail matters: the total includes 27 pairings in the main draw or qualifying and two women’s teams still on the waiting list. The FIP has scheduled qualifying from 29 to 31 August at Pro Padel Coslada, followed by the main draw from 1 to 6 September at Movistar Arena. Its official event page sets main-draw fields of 48 men’s pairs and 28 women’s pairs.
Fourteen new men’s pairs, including two in the top five
The most visible change involves Mike Yanguas and Coki Nieto, fourth on the entry list, just ahead of Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz. The two teams were separated by 21 points in the FIP ranking on 10 August, as Actu Padel explained in its pre-Madrid analysis. Their entry-list positions do not guarantee the final seed order, which will depend on the ranking used when the draw is made.
The fourteen new men’s pairings identified are:
- Mike Yanguas / Coki Nieto
- Franco Stupaczuk / Jon Sanz
- Javi Barahona / Maxi Sánchez Blasco
- Álex Chozas / Juani De Pascual
- Álvaro Montiel / Gonzalo Rubio
- Javi Martínez / Luis Hernández
- Flavio Abbate / Alonso Rodríguez
- Juani Rubini / Ignacio Piotto
- Andrés Fernández Lancha / Denis Perino
- Maxi Sánchez / Lucho Capra
- Rama Valenzuela / Dani Santigosa
- Aris Patiniotis / Diego García
- Pepe Aliaga / Álvaro Cepero
- Nachi Sager / Salva Oria
When he ended his second spell with Coki Nieto, Jon Sanz summed up the change on his official Instagram account. In a faithful translation of his message:
Closing a chapter is never easy, especially with Coki.
Fifteen women’s pairings identified, including two on the waiting list
In the women’s field, the leading eight pairs keep the same line-ups. The changes begin immediately behind them with Vero Virseda / Martina Fassio, ninth on the list, and Raquel Eugenio / Jimena Velasco.
Thirteen new pairings hold main-draw or qualifying places: Virginia Riera / Julieta Bidahorria, Leti Manquillo / Lucía Martínez, Águeda Pérez / Marta Caparrós, Marta Borrero / Tere Navarro, Patri Martínez / Ari Cañellas, Claudia Escacena / Noemí Aguilar, Mónica Gómez / Julia Polo, Camila Fassio / Amanda López, Melani Merino / Lucía Peralta, Cata Nogueira / Caterina Baldi and Carlotta Casali / Clarissa Aima, in addition to Virseda / Fassio and Eugenio / Velasco.
Two more teams, Rebe López / Catherine Rose and María Portillo / Martina Parmigiani, take the total to 29 but remain on the waiting list. The two men’s top-five projects will draw attention, but the movement is much wider. The restart will show how a busy transfer window has reshaped much of the middle of the field, while the top of the women’s list remains stable.
