Maxime Deloyer at FIP Silver Narbonne, partnered with Jerzy Janowicz, took Lucas Pillon and Maxime Joris to a third set in the opening round. Result: Pillon and Joris won 6/7 7/6 6/2 after two tiebreaks before pulling away in the final set.

Two tiebreaks before the third set in Narbonne

Coming through qualifying, Deloyer and Janowicz entered the main draw after two wins. Against Pillon and Joris, the opening set stayed on serve for long stretches. Deloyer repeatedly highlighted the challenge of defending against their moves to the net and kept a close eye on Joris’s jumping smash.

Deloyer and Janowicz took the first set in a tiebreak. The second followed the same pattern, but Pillon and Joris edged the deciding game. The official FIP draw confirms the final score: 6/7 7/6 6/2 for the French pair.

A former ATP world No. 14, Janowicz brings an unusual profile to the draw. Deloyer repeatedly asks him to move forward through transition and close the net, especially when Pillon and Joris direct play into his side.

The match was played at Set Padel Narbonne, host venue for the tournament from June 17 to 21, 2026.

Tactical adjustments in real time

The video also follows Deloyer’s thinking between points. The Belgian varies his lobs toward Pillon, watches the young Frenchman step in behind his chiquita and adjusts his position when Joris sets up the smash. Across the net, the French pair frequently works the ball toward Janowicz.

The third set turns more quickly. Pillon and Joris break serve at the start, then build a second break. Deloyer and Janowicz still find a few sequences at the net, but the margin is gone. A drop shot from Joris closes the match at 6/2.

Deloyer plans to keep playing FIP events

In his debrief from Narbonne station, Deloyer focuses on how he felt on court and his intention to keep playing international tournaments.

I felt really good on court. I think I played really well. I’m obviously going to keep playing FIP events to keep improving.

The opening-round exit does not erase their run through qualifying or the two tiebreak sets against Pillon and Joris. For more tournament context, our FIP Silver Narbonne 2026 preview covers the draw and the main pairs involved.
