Alami arrives with his strongest FIP results
Morocco has entered Mohamed Alami and Reda El Amrani El Hanchi for padel at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto. The Moroccan National Olympic Committee registered a delegation of 120 athletes across 18 sports, while the FIP confirms Morocco’s presence in the men’s draw.
Alami reaches this event after a busy international season. In the FIP ranking published on August 17, the Moroccan is world No. 363 with 96 points, close to his career high of No. 359. His official profile records 20 wins from 29 matches in 2026.
His two main results in Morocco show his progress. In April, Alami and Federico Mouriño reached the FIP Bronze Marrakech semi-final, losing 6/1 6/4 to eventual champions Francisco Cabeza and Mariano Gonzalez. In June, alongside Tolito Aguirre, he reached the FIP Bronze Kénitra final, where José Luis Gonzalez and Álvaro Meléndez won 6/0 6/4.
El Amrani brings a different kind of experience
The FIP introduces Reda El Amrani as a former ATP world No. 160. His competitive background therefore starts in tennis before his move into Morocco’s padel scene.
In September 2025, he won the Dislog Maroc Padel Masters P1000 in Casablanca with Khalil Boutaleb. They beat Mehdi Ziadi and Mohamed Alami 7/6 6/4 in the final. The result also provides a direct reference between the two Moroccan representatives who will now wear the same national colours in Italy.
Moroccan padel enters the men’s draw at Taranto 2026
The tournament will run from August 22 to 28 at Salinella Mediterranean Park. The final list published by the FIP includes 88 athletes from 18 countries, with 17 nations in men’s doubles, 14 in women’s doubles and 12 in mixed doubles. Readers can also consult Actu Padel’s full overview of the Taranto 2026 field.
This edition will award padel medals for the first time in Mediterranean Games history. When the sport’s inclusion was announced, FIP president Luigi Carraro described the significance of the move:
The debut of Padel at the 2026 Mediterranean Games marks another historic milestone for our sport and a further recognition of its international growth.
For Morocco, Taranto will provide a direct comparison with a men’s field that includes Spain, Italy, Portugal and France. Alami arrives with recent FIP results. El Amrani brings a longer racket-sport background and a major national title. The first matches are scheduled from August 22.
