The Spanish padel championship for regional teams set its top-division semi-finals in Valladolid on Friday 2 October. Madrid, the Canary Islands, the Basque Country and Catalonia advanced in the men’s draw, while Catalonia, Madrid, the Balearic Islands and Andalusia made up the women’s final four.
Madrid, Canary Islands, Basque Country and Catalonia advance from the men’s quarter-finals
Madrid beat Andalusia 4-1, the Canary Islands defeated Galicia 4-1 and Catalonia eliminated Castile and León by the same score. The Basque Country needed the fifth match to beat the Balearic Islands 3-2. The Spanish Padel Federation therefore confirmed semi-finals of Madrid against the Canary Islands and the Basque Country against Catalonia.
The Balearic Islands, seeded No. 3, and Galicia, No. 4, both went out in the quarter-finals. The Basque Country eliminated the Balearic team, while the Canary Islands knocked out Galicia. Catalonia, the No. 1 seed, and second-seeded Madrid both won their quarter-finals 4-1.
The Canary Islands were back in the men’s top division after earning promotion in 2025, when they finished runners-up in the second division. Before the tournament, Diego Gil, president of the Canary Islands Padel Federation, described the progress made by both island teams.
“Having both our teams in the top division reflects the level padel has reached in the Canary Islands.”
