Clément Geens and Thomas Leygue begin London P1 qualifying on Sunday, 2 August, at the first Premier Padel tournament staged in the United Kingdom. Seeded fifth in the qualifying draw, the Belgian and the Frenchman face Ferran Insa and Octavio Alvarez in the opening round.
Second match on Court 2
The revised order of play places the match second on Court 2. The first contest starts at 10:30am London time. Geens announced an expected start around 12:30pm on social media, but the exact time depends on the length of the preceding match.
The official score can be followed on the FIP London P1 page. At the time of publication, no video link dedicated to this qualifying match was available. Any stream should appear on the Premier Padel live page. Actu Padel also gathers updates on its padel results page.
Yes, Geens and Leygue have already won together
This partnership is not new. Geens and Leygue won the FIP Rise Mol in August 2024, beating Marcos Cordoba and Candido Jorge Alfaro 6/0 6/4 in the final. They also came through qualifying at the 2025 Qatar Major before winning their first main-draw match against Mario Huete and Denis Perino, 7/6 6/2.
The pair reunited again at Brussels P2 in 2025. Their balance is clear on paper: Geens plays on the left and Leygue on the right. Their shared experience should reduce the adjustment time often needed when a partnership is revived for one tournament.
A reunion with Ferran Insa, one week after Porto
The London opener carries another connection. In 2023, Leygue won the FIP Rise Antalya alongside Ferran Insa, defeating Jérôme Inzerillo and Clément Geens 7/6 6/1. Three years later, Leygue and Geens line up together against the Spaniard.
Geens also arrives with recent momentum. In the FIP ranking published on 27 July, he is world number 82. Partnering Dylan Guichard, he reached the FIP Silver Porto final on 26 July, losing 5/7 6/3 5/7 to Ramiro Pereyra and Juan Zamora after two hours and 40 minutes. The Belgian then highlighted the pair’s attitude:
“We are happy with the tournament and especially with our attitude, with managing to fight until the end.”
This is not his first London appearance. In June, Geens had already played the FIP Silver HOP London with Nacho Moragues. The setting is different this time: a win would send the pair into Monday’s second qualifying round, with a main-draw place still to earn.
