Leaving Argentina and learning to handle pressure
Leo Augsburger is only 22, but his career has already taken him from Posadas to the top level of the international tour. The FIP ranking places him sixth in the world with 7,346 points. His interview with el4Set looks at the personal cost of that rise, including the sacrifices involved in leaving Argentina to settle in Spain.
Playing alongside Juan Lebrón, a former world No. 1, brings an extra level of demand to a career that is already under constant scrutiny. Augsburger says he has had to learn quickly how to deal with results, partner changes and his own reactions on court.
Augsburger takes responsibility for his mistakes with Libaak
The most personal part of the interview concerns Tino Libaak. The two Argentines grew up together in professional padel before splitting and following different paths. Augsburger now acknowledges that his obsession with winning sometimes damaged their relationship on court.
I was a bad partner to him. That desire to win made me feel bad and I would pull faces at him.
He links those tensions to their age and to how quickly they rose through the sport. Their 2024 split had already been presented publicly as the end of a stage that began in Argentina and ended in Europe. Their sporting story then resumed in the national team. Libaak and Augsburger won the decisive point for Argentina in the final of the 2024 FIP World Padel Championships, beating Paquito Navarro and Mike Yanguas 3-6, 7-5, 7-6.
A Libaak reunion is mentioned, not a split with Lebrón
Augsburger says that when his partnership with Lebrón eventually ends, and after some time has passed, Libaak would be his first call. The comment shows how important their relationship remains, but it is not an announcement of a future pairing.
As of 4 October 2026, Augsburger is still partnered with Juan Lebrón on Premier Padel. His comments are mainly about his first years at the highest level, leaving his country, handling results pressure and a relationship with Libaak that he feels he managed poorly at times. A reunion with his former partner is an expressed intention, not an announced partner change.
