Pozzoni and Stupaczuk, ten years together with no split announced

Carlos Pozzoni remains Franco Stupaczuk’s coach at this stage. No departure has been announced. Asked about criticism of his work with the player, he points to the length of their partnership and acknowledges that it will not last forever.

“We have been together for ten years and, at some point, we will no longer be together.”

Those words are not an announcement of a split. They do add weight to the questions surrounding the future of Stupa’s coaching team. Pozzoni also explains that his relationship with the player is first and foremost professional. He organises training and handles part of the logistics to reduce the burden on the Argentine.

The context matters. After London, Pozzoni described a player who needed a mental break. Stupaczuk returned to Argentina during the pause to recover before competition resumes. For his coach, physical preparation cannot solve the problem if the motivation has not returned.

Jon Sanz was Stupaczuk’s choice for the new project

The partner change has already opened a new phase. Stupaczuk has joined forces with Jon Sanz following the end of his project with Mike Yanguas. The new pair made their partnership official this week and are set to compete at the Comunidad de Madrid Premier Padel P1, where the men’s main draw starts on 1 September.

Pozzoni says the decision to choose Sanz was Stupaczuk’s. He expects the Spanish left-hander to bring more attacking punch and more winners in areas where the team feels it has lacked efficiency in recent weeks. Sanz’s arrival will not solve everything on its own. Stupa’s level will also depend on whether he can recover his motivation and mental freshness.

Actu Padel had already covered the formation of the Stupaczuk-Sanz partnership before Madrid. Attention now turns to the coaching set-up. Pozzoni remains in place for now, but his comments show that he does not rule out the possibility that a ten-year cycle could soon change.

Madrid will provide the first clues about the new set-up

The next tournament should provide more concrete answers. Stupaczuk and Sanz will test their partnership in competition, while Pozzoni’s role in the new configuration will be watched closely. For now, no separation between the coach and the player has been announced.
