Mallorca for stronger day-to-day competition
Jonas Trümpler is due to leave Germany at the end of August and move to Mallorca. The German player, born on September 5, 2009, will continue his development at Asnimo Academy in Palma, a move that has been planned for several months. He already knows the setup and has completed several training camps there.
Padel is growing quickly in Germany. The Deutscher Padel Verband estimates that 350,000 people now play the sport in the country and that more than 10,500 take part in competitions. Trümpler’s need is more specific: he wants more training partners who can force him to play every session at a pace closer to international level.
In an interview broadcast by NDR on August 17, he explained the decision:
“Spain is the number one padel nation and offers different training opportunities. That is exactly why I’m going there, to train better.”
Junior national coach Julio Gallardo describes him as the best player in Germany’s junior national team and sees the move as a valuable step in his development. In Mallorca, Trümpler is expected to live with the parents of his coach, Alejandro Walter. He also plans to continue his education at the German school in Palma and work toward his Abitur.
Early benchmarks on the FIP circuit
Trümpler already has experience on the international circuit. On August 17, 2026, the International Padel Federation ranked him No. 914 in the world with 20 points. His 2026 record in competitions listed by the FIP stands at nine wins and six defeats.
His standout result of the season remains a quarter-final run at the FIP Bronze in Hamburg in June. Playing with Spain’s Toni Villena Quiros, he beat the tournament’s top seeds in three sets and then won his round-of-16 match. That run delivered his first points in the men’s world ranking.
The move to Mallorca is designed to give him more sessions against players with international-level experience. The structure around him is already clear: training in Spain, school in Palma and continued coaching support. The next measure of his progress will come from his FIP results and how consistently he can reach the stronger stages of international draws.
